DSC prides itself on not only being innovative but on delivering on its promises.
ASK is one of the UK's biggest and more successful independent consumer electronics retailers. They contacted DSC in 2001 after repeated frustration with other technology suppliers. They had found themselves desperate to bring their extensive range of products to a stylish and easy to use online shop, but being let down by broken promises and a lack of ability.
They asked DSC to design the entire site and its structure, giving only a brief outline of the required specification. They provided the graphic design elements of the site using their in-house designers, but DSC was "left alone" to select a suitable technological platform, implement a sophisticated site and host the entire system.
Whilst e-commerce site are commonly quite sophisticated these days, the ASK Direct site was ahead of its time with advanced features such as very sophisticated searching, fully integrated payment processing and integration with existing. Even by today's standards it was fast and easy to use. A key feature was the ability for ASK to manage the site's content and the product information themselves, without having to resort to us (and pay us) every time they wanted to change something.
DSC implemented the complete system in less than eight weeks. Over the years the look of it has been refreshed periodically and integrated with new systems which have been introduced by the company. As well as these improvements, DSC has hosted and managed it, monitoring its availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
